How to calculate a weighted forecast

An opportunity’s amount is the value of the whole deal. A weighted forecast multiplies that amount by the chance of winning.

Worked example

A $4,000 proposal with a 25% chance of closing contributes $1,000 to this forecast.

Common mistake

A deal worth $4,000 is not $4,000 of expected revenue when its probability is 25%.
